According to the science of Ayurveda, the element of fire lives in your eyes. It is because of fire, through the sunlight or artificial light, that you can see. When you have your eyes open with a sharp gaze, your internal fire increases. When, on the contrary, you close your eyes or you have a peripheral vision, your internal fire cools down.
What you look at also matters. If you look up, you energetically associate with the element of air in the sky. Moving your gaze down will help you ground as you take in the energy of the earth through your eyes.
5. Create a physical connection with the earth. Feel your feet flat on the floor. If you are on your yoga mat, practice close to the floor. Connect to the solidity of the earth, its stability and nurturing quality. Imagine that you are breathing in the earth quality that you most need. Imagination is a powerful tool that we can use in our favor.
